DAY 7 – END OF WEEK ONE

I originally planned to be posting every day… oh well!

Wow, the end of my first week on the Cambridge diet. The time has flown by! I am surpised how easy this thing is, taking food out of my life is proving to be the best desicion I’ve made. I’ve definitley lost weight this week, of course you loose a lot on the first week because of the body using up the glycogen it has stored, and all the water…. but I feel great. Clothes are already getting looser, and my face looks thinner.

The actual food packs are quite enjoyable, the only one I dislike is the “Cheese and Broccoli” one, which I think is pretty good going. I have left my spare Cheese and Broccoli at work, so if I happen to forget a food pack, it will teach me a lesson.

I went to the MPH Car Show in Birmingham which was good fun, had a shake in the morning and took a bar and two ready made cartons with me…. water at the show was £1.80 a freakin bottle!!! Something very strange happened there – Bushmills Irish Whiskey had a stand there, promoting their products with two hyperactive Irish men telling a small crowd of people the story of how the distillery came to be etc. Whilst diverting my attension with the antics, another one came out with a tray of Whiskey samples. With my mind occupied on the dancings paddys, without thinking, I picked up a sample and drank it. About 5 mins later, the reality hit me. I felt so disapointed and panicked! I asked the guys how much they had put in the samples, and they said it was 10ML… frantically phoned home to get mum to check the calories… apperently it’s not alot. I was walking around all day anyway. It’s funny, if they said to me “Would you like one?” i would have refused quite happily… I’ve put it down to being a victim of very clever PR instead of a lack of judgement.. i’ve learnt my lesson.

Ketosis – I am in full swing. I’ve reached the highest ketone mark on the sticks, and it’s amazing to see some of the science there in front of your eyes.

People are being generally supportive… My student friends are being supportive, My best friend Chris is being great, Dad was even supportive and interested! Mum an Sister are beig amazing, they are even re-arranging dinner times so the smell isnt wafting around the house. Mum has also decided to cook a “christmas soup” for xmas day, so we are all having soup in one way or another – I love the support – However, I can easily cope with food being around. People at work all had KFC and one of my MPH car passengers had a Burger King in the car – i genuinly wasn’t fussed! I do however have one craving…. the chicken doner kebab… i miss it. Certain work people are being a little less supportive. Alison, Magda and Sam who I work with are being supportive, and I think the world of them for doing so. Some however are badmouthing the diet and saying how stupid it is. I just tell them to stop being so ignorant, because thats exactly what they are being. Especially as one of the culprits reccommended the drug “Zenecol” to me.. (Zenecol makes you “poop” 30% of your body fat, with such side affects as Anal Leakage etc) to which I then ripped into with a torrent of defense.

My spirits are high, I’m not tempted or craving…. I’m actually enjoying it!

One Thing I forgot to mention:

this diet – is all in your head. I mean, you even get to notice how food is around you. For example, in a deli before I would look a the tuna and think “ahhh look at that!”… now, stepping back i can see that it has been sitting out there most of the day etcm and see the lack of care that is taken to things that ultimately fuels our bodies.

I know it’s weird, but i’ve also been having strange dreams!…. I had a dream I was in an airport in Portugal (I’ve never been to Portugal) and I ate a biscuit…. it was horrifying that I had cheated on my diet… I had a similiar dream again a few days later!! – I think the mental work was begun, amazing how the brain mantains itself!
